About
Claire's research interests are generally focussed on human rights and equality issues and how these can be used to influence social movements and activism. She is particularly interested in issues of class and socio-economic disadvantage and how the social rights litigation can be used to ameliorate this situation.
Her current research is focused on the right to access to sufficient and adequate water for domestic use, how this right is vindicated through the courts and how the right to water fits into the wider human rights framework.
This research is an enquiry into the use of social rights litigation as tool of social change and looks particularly at the use of litigation to give effect to the right to water. It uses a comparative approach to analyse the right to water in international and domestic legal systems and to examine how the courts have sought to implement this right and how effective this strategy has been at improving basic services for disadvantaged groups.
